Wacaco Minipresso

This is the first thing that goes into my suitcase.

It's a Wacaco MiniNespresso. I use both Nespresso Capsules and managed to find in Hong Kong aluminium re-usable cases that I can fill with ground coffee where ever I go.

Why is this the 1st thing that goes in ? Well in Asia, hot water is usually easy to find. Coffee can range from amazing to non-existent.

Knowing, if everything else is bad, even on an isolated island in Indonesia or a village in Laos - you can get a decent cup of coffee, is a great safety net.

You put the capsule in, fill it with hot water and pump. Out comes creamy expresso. If you happen to be in Yogyakarta in Java, this means Kopi Luwak expresso - mmm.. That's why it's the first thing in.

Is it perfect - no.

It makes a mess, and the Expresso is small. I tend to refil it to get a proper expresso sized measure. It occasionally doesn't seal or filter right so you get weak coffee water not rich & creamy coffee. But it's light and relatively easy to use. Before I got the re-usable capsules it was also not that practical for longer trips.

My rating - 8 out of 10 as a gadget. 10 / 10 as fulfilling a need.
